According to the statistics, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives. It can also affect men, although that’s much rarer. After skin cancers, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer to affect women worldwide. In recent years, death rates have continued to decline, thanks to early detection, improved treatment options, and increased awareness.

Indianapolis hosts several breast cancer awareness and fundraising events during the month of October! If this cause is close to you or someone you know, attend one of these events to raise money and awareness this month!

Pink-O-Ween Party at White Rabbit Cabaret

October 26 - 9:30pm

Featuring burlesque, comedy, beverages, and more, plan for a fun evening in Fountain Square that helps a great cause! Don your best pink costume to win a prize in the costume contest and bring some funds to bid on silent auction items!

16th Annual Komen Central Indiana Pink Tie Ball

October 26 - 6:30pm

This formal event hosted by the Susan G. Komen Foundation is a huge fundraising event that blends live entertainment, dinner, drinks, and a silent auction into a great evening! Party the night away at the JW Marriott downtown and enjoy tunes from Henle and the Loops!

9th Annual Glitz & Glamour Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Event

October 19 - 10am

Join survivors and supporters for a Saturday lunch at The Ritz Charles in Carmel. With a Masquerade Ball theme and fashion show, you’ll love being a part of the festivities. Shop from area vendors and raise funds for a great cause.

Make it Sparkle - Make a Difference - Support the Komen Tissue Bank

October 23rd - 5:30pm

Stop by after work for snacks, drinks, and shopping! 30% of sales of Premier Designs Jewelry will be donated directly to the Komen Tissue Bank. Parking is plentiful at this Broad Ripple event, so it’s a great time to get a headstart on that holiday shopping!

2019 Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk

October 19 - 9am

Hosted by the American Cancer Society, this downtown walk starts at Celebration Plaza. Join other survivors, caregivers, and people who are passionate about breast cancer awareness in this walk. It’s not a race, so feel free to participate no matter what kind of athletic talents you have!

9Round Kick Event for Breast Cancer Awareness

October 24

Take part in a special kick-themed workout to raise funds for breast cancer. As part of an annual fundraiser, 9Round Kickboxing Fitness will donate $.01 for every kick tallied that day! Or, if you’d rather just make a cash donation on-site, that’s an option as well! Workout and raise money - what could be easier?

Take some time this month to raise some money or learn more about breast cancer. Knowledge and prevention is key to protecting women’s (and yes, men’s) health.
