The very first Earth Day took place on April 22, 1970. The day was started by Senator Gaylord Nelson and took place in colleges and schools around the United States. In 2018, the day is recognized in 192 countries, making it the largest secular holiday in the world! Indianapolis has a few ways to celebrate nature, science, and sustainability on this day!

Run or walk a 5K along the White River as part of the fun. Take a bus, ride your bike (free Pedal & Park), or enjoy a leisurely stroll to Military Park!
