Exotic Food In Greater Indianapolis

While there are a number of great restaurants throughout the Greater Indianapolis area, sometimes it easy to crave unusual food. Fortunately, there are a number of restaurants in Indianapolis and the Northside that offer exotic food choices from different countries around the world. From East Asian to South American, Northside residents are guaranteed to find new types of food worth trying.

St. Yared

St. Yared is an Ethiopian restaurant located off of Fall Creek Road in Fishers. They serve lunch and dinner, and they are open every day except Monday between the hours of 11:00am and 9:00pm. They also have a coffee shop, which is open every day of the week. It opens at 6:15am every day except Sunday, when it opens at 10:00am. It closes at 9:00pm Tuesday through Sunday. On Mondays, it closes at 11:00am. Menu highlights include traditional Ethiopian fare such as Wot and Alicha. There is a large selection of vegetarian options as well.

Thai Papaya

Located north of the College Park area, Thai Papaya is another exotic food restaurant offering a number of Thai selections like Padd Thai and Stir-Fried meats and vegetables. It is open for dinner and lunch, and it is closed on Sundays. Its lunch hours start at 11:00am and end at 3:00pm. Dinner is served between 5:00pm and 9:00pm. Thai Papaya is located east of the intersection of Michigan Road and West 96th Street. Thai Papaya also has carry-out for customers that do not want to eat onsite.

Amber Indian Restaurant

Northside residents looking for Indian food should try Amber Indian Restaurant, located off of Meridian Street in Carmel. Amber Indian Restaurant has great, traditional Indian foods like Tandoori Chicken and Lamb Korma. Like St. Yard and Thai Papaya, Indian Restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner. Lunch is served between 11:00am and 2:30pm during the week. On the weekend, lunch is served between 11:30am and 3:00pm. Every day of the week, dinner starts at 5:00pm and ends at 10:00pm.

Mama Irma

Mama Irma is perhaps the most unique exotic food restaurant in the Greater Indianapolis area. It offers Peruvian food. It is additionally unique because it can be used as a wedding venue. Located on Virginia Avenue in Indianapolis, Mama Irma is a decent drive from the Northside, but its unusual menu is worth the drive. It is closed on Sunday and Monday, but it opens at 11:00am every other day of the week. Food is served until 9:00pm. Mama Irma offers pasta and rice dishes, soups and seafood dishes.
