Fall 2016 At Spencer Farm
Central Indiana residents look forward to fall for a number of reasons. For one, fall is a break from the hot and humid weather of July and August. For others, fall is the best time of year to get fresh produce. Spencer Farm in Noblesville is one of the more unique public farms on the Northside, providing some of the best produce in the area. While many public farms in the Greater Indianapolis area provide apples and pumpkins in the fall, Spencer Farm is known best for its great selection of berries.
The dream of Kyle Spencer, the modern-day Spencer Farm can trace its roots all the way back to 1982 when it opened as Spencer’s You Pick. Kyle did not grow up on a farm, but he had some experience with livestock and crops. Spencer’s You Pick was started on 10 acres of land leased by Kyle Spencer from a neighbor. Eventually, the business moved to another property in 1986, allowing the farm to add more produce. Before the move, Spencer’s You Pick only had the ability to grow strawberries.
Late Summer and Fall Produce
Today, Spencer Farm is primarily known for its berries. Available berries include strawberries, black raspberries, red raspberries and blueberries.
