The Northsides Best Ice Cream And Yogurt Companies
While the Greater Indianapolis area has its fair share of well-known ice cream chain companies like Dairy Queen, there are a number of smaller, more unique ice cream and frozen yogurt companies that produce equally delicious frozen treats. From The Scoop in Zionsville to Huddles in the Nora area, Northside residents have plenty of great choices for cold treats perfect to beat the heat of summer.
The Scoop Gourmet Ice Cream and Treats
The Scoop is Zionsville’s very best ice cream parlor. In addition to traditional ice cream cones, The Scoop offers homemade waffle cones, fruit smoothies, floats and hand-dipped milkshakes. Located on Main Street, The Scoop is open between 11:30am and 10:30pm during the week. On Saturdays, it opens at 8:00am, and It closes at 10:00pm. Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream and Yogurt
Handel’s is a regional ice cream company with locations primarily in Ohio and the East Coast. There are two locations in Indiana. Its dog-friendly yogurt is organic, digestive system-friendly and it is made with real yogurt.
Graeter’s Ice Cream
Graeter’s, like Handel’s, is another ice cream company with locations across the country. Most Graeter’s locations are in the Midwest, and there are two locations in the northern part of the Greater Indianapolis area. One location, in Carmel, is located on South Rangeline Road. The other Northside Graeter’s is in Fishers on Ambleside Drive, which is close to the intersection of IN 37 and East 131st Street. Both stores are open until 11:00pm every day. They both open at 11:00am every day except Sunday when they open at noon. All Graeter’s locations use “The French Pot Process,” a special process that has been continually utilized since 1870. This unique method produces some of the best ice cream in the Greater Indianapolis area.
