With the arrival of crisp, fall air, it is easy to get excited about the holidays. While Thanksgiving is certainly right around the corner, Christmas, too, is not that far away. The Nutcracker is one of the very best things about the end of the year. Families from all over the Greater Indianapolis area flock to several the city’s great performing venues to see this wonderful act. For 2016, Northsiders can choose from a few different ballet companies if they want to see The Nutcracker.

Indianapolis School of Ballet

The Indianapolis School of Ballet, located right in the heart of Downtown Indianapolis, is performing The Nutcracker in Indianapolis for the 10th year in a row. For the 2016 season, the Indianapolis School of Ballet will perform The Nutcracker at The Murat at The Old National Centre, which is located on Massachusetts Avenue in Downtown Indianapolis. Tickets for kids, students and seniors start at just $15.00. Adult tickets start at just $20.00. There are four performances schedule for this December. The first two performances are both at 7:30pm on December 15th and December 16th. The third performance is scheduled for Saturday, December 17th, at 2:00pm. The last performance, like the Saturday showing, is also a matinee. It is at 3:00pm on December 18th, a Sunday. Greater Indianapolis residents should consider this rendition of The Nutcracker because it is accompanied by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

The Moscow Ballet

The famous Moscow Ballet stops in Indianapolis during its 70-city tour, and it will be a real treat for Northsiders who decide to attend.  The Moscow Ballet stops in Indianapolis for just one day. Their performance is at 3:00pm on November 27th. Tickets for this performance are a little more expensive than normal, but attendees are guaranteed an excellent performance. Tickets start at $30.50 and go up to $177.50 for the very best seats in the house. Northsiders might want to consider purchasing tickets well in Advance because this ballet company will not be in Indianapolis for long.

Central Indiana Dance Ensemble

Northside residents looking for a more local performance should consider heading over to the Zionsville Performing Arts Center to see the Central Indiana Dance Ensemble’s rendition of The Nutcracker. Tickets for this event start at just $25.00 for adults. Tickets are $18.00 for anyone under the age of 18. There are four performances planned. The first is on Friday, December 9th. The following two performances are on Saturday, December 10th. On this day, there is a matinee at 2:00pm and an evening performance at 7:30pm. The Central Indiana Dance Ensemble finishes their stay at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center with a show on Sunday, December 11th, at 2:00pm.
